Scrollwork Intensive class
In this 2 day class we will be exploring some of the many
applications of scrollwork.
Day one will start with my "Etch a Sketch" theory
to scrollwork and we will learn about appling
simple vertical, horizontal and diagonal
lines on a bead. Accurate dot
application will be introduced at this time as well. Practice, Patience and
Perseverance, the 3 P's as they are sometimes called are very important and we
will spend plenty of time at the torch in this class. As the day and progresses
I will introduce scroll designs and individually as you gain confidence we will
begin to talk about raise scroll work.
Day two will begin with work time to warm us up. I will
introduce more complex geometry to our designs. Diamond patterns and Cross
Hatching will be demoed and we will begin creating bead combining designs and
textures. As skill levels allow we will also work at keeping these designs
raised. In the afternoon I will discuss creating beads with stringer work
imagery. How to break down an image into linear form and the process in which
to apply it to a bead.
We will be working with Moretti and Double helix silver based glass for most
of out beads.
This class is designed for intermediate to advanced flame
workers who already have a solid grasp on bead formation. I will briefly
discuss my marveling techniques for shaping large tube and tab beads
